Uniden SDS200 Scanner

This is a quick review of the brand new STS 200 mobile desktop scanner by Uniden. Alright so let’s take a look at the new Uniden SDS 200 scanner. Just like the SDS 100 this is an IQ receiver it also trunk tracks on Motorola P25 phase 1 phase 2, Motorola, EDACS, LTR trunking, MOTOturbo Capacity plus, connect plus, DMR tier 3 Hytera XPT, it does DMR single channel and NXDN, EDACS ProVoice as well as regular standard EDACS and LTR.

The back of the scanner which is really really interesting of course you’ve got your BNC antenna jack which is pretty much standard on these mobile and desktop scanners you have your external speaker again standard but again you have got a micro USB port on the back of the scanner and another LAN cable which look like it’s a LAN cable but it’s not it’s a GPS connector.

The GPS is different from the other GPS scanner GPS interfaces on the other scans where the other scanners were a db9 connection this is actually like an rj11 or 45 it looks like and you’re going to need to use the CB-GPSK GPS for this not the standard GPS kit that is for the other Uniden scanners so again this is from like the trunk the CB 885 it’s the same GPS.

First, this scanner is miles ahead of the Uniden 436 series scanner. It has a good customizable color screen. It has a loud speaker. It has a real liion battery that you can charge while using the scanner. It performs as you would expect a real scanner to on digital and simulcast systems. The location based site scanning is amazing. Learn to use it! The close call alerts are really neat as well. I felt quite sleuthy the first time my scanner beeped at me and began playing audio from nearby police units talking on simplex analog, all automatically.

Uniden BearTracker Scanner BCT15X

The Uniden BearTracker Scanner BCT15X is a GPS scanner, which comes with an outfit with a room for up to 9000 channels and features unique to Uniden, such as high dynamic memory system, Close Call RF Capture technology and GPS compatibility. If you’re looking for a police scanner you will want to make sure that a product is as reliable as possible before making your purchase. You would also like a good antenna to get references from far away.

Pros:
As we have already mentioned, one of the main benefits of this Uniden scanner is that it is much more powerful than many of the single channel volume compensation functions to ensure you can hear it. The ways in which you are interested and suggest functions such as a temporary block.
The inclusion of many additional accessories means that you will be ready to use this factory model. The reception of this product is more pronounced than expected, especially when it is considered to be half as expensive as some of its closest competitors. If you are looking for a product with consistent reception and a wide range of features to improve your scanning efficiency, this is a great model.

Cons:
This product is not easy to use. It seems that this scanner was made deliberately so that beginners cannot use it easily. At first, this model does not have a complete user manual and, instead, you must go to the website to access a PDF. As this was not difficult enough to use, this scanner is a challenge for the program, although you can hang it directly on your computer. If you want to simplify the registration process, then you will want to use third-party software that can greatly simplify things.

Conclusion:
It’s very complicated to set up. If you don’t have access to those people, I highly recommend let company preprogram your scanner, pay the extra money to have them program scanner. I’ve owned several scanners in my life. This by far is one of the best. I use mine in my POV with a window mount antenna and receive good coverage. I want to hook to my base station roof mount antenna to see how far coverage is.
